My car loses oil at the rate of a quart and a half every 500 miles or so. It has been repaired for an obvious leak at the top of the engine, but continues to lose oil at this rate. I have been told by three mechanics now that this is common in camrys. If it is so common, it needs to be addressed by toyota.

The engine oil has burned up. Have almost no oil left after getting oil change less than 3000 miles ago. The is no oil leakage on driveway where car is parked. Oil filter is on tight and oil cap is on. My wife said she was getting a warning light of some kind that day so i checked the oil when she told me. I took my car, bought and added 4 qts of high mileage oil and zmax treatment to minimize any potential damage.
