The problem is a faulty fuel pump. While in motion, the car stalls. It has stalled on city streets and on the highway. The engine shuts off. Toyota has a recall coming for fuel pumps on toyota and lexus vehicles. The recall is to be announced in march of 2020, but i'm not sure the 2010 camry is included, but it has the same problem, and the problem occurs on a daily basis.

Ever since i have owned this car i've noticed the accelerator and brakes are extremely touch and impossible to accelerate smoothly from a stop. The brakes are also extremely touchy so it's hard to come to a smooth stop without jerking. I applied the brakes slowly as i was driving on the highway moving about 25 mph and instead of slowing down, the car accelerated--it jolted forward! I stepped on the brakes harder. This happened twice on one drive--i almost hit an 18 wheeler. Is there something i should do? I'm not sure if it is safe to drive.

Twice while driving last week the car abruptly and on its own, accelerated to a very high rate of speed. The first time, i was able to slow it down. The second time i pumped on the brakes several times, without result. I kept pumping and it was very difficult to stop. Several more attempts and i was able to stop the car. Was driving about 45 mph, engine suddenly went to idle while petal was still depressed. Let off the pedal and pushed it down again and it started to work again.
