I was traveling on a freeway at approximately 60 mph. The vehicle abruptly lost power when i "stepped on the accelerator" to compensate for a slight upgrade on the freeway, and subsequently slowed to approximately 20 mph, forcing me to pull onto the shoulder and stop the vehicle. Camry had been sitting idle (off) in garage for several hours, with ignition off and keys removed. Heard a slight humming noise coming from lower rear of car. Fuel pump had turned on, not commanded, during this timeframe and was running, no fuel leaks noted. Cycled ignition switch on and off, fuel pump then turned off. This could be a fire hazard. *tr
