When car was completely stopped at a stop sign, car made a loud noise and started shaking. Then car accelerated on its own. Brakes locked. Car wouldn't stop in neutral or in park gear. It caused an accident by rear ending the car in front of me. Car accelerated very quickly and steering wheel locked as well. Passenger in car heard the noise too. The car accelerated abruptly on its own.

Replaced the torque converter before 57,000. According the the service ad visor this was a problem that toyota knew about and never issue a recall. My car vin was on a list. I was driving on a highway at 60 miles and notice the odometer won't move. It won't accelerate over 60 mph. The dealer change the torque converter but still having problems. The dealer won't give me a copy of the repair.

A couple of months ago, i noticed a musty smell coming from my car. I realized that it may be due to the heating/cooling vents, and a quick search revealed that this problem was part of a class action lawsuit on behalf of toyota camry drivers. I fear my vehicle has the same faulty system. I replaced the cabin air filter and sprayed ozium cleaner into the intake, but this only solved the problem for a few days.
